  • Domestic worker is defined as any individual working as a helper, driver, cook, maid, or any other domestic helper categorized by the Ministry of Interior (MOI).
  • The sponsor of the domestic worker should hold an active account with QIB with their mobile number updated in the bank's records.
  • Domestic Workers Account is an exclusively tailored mobile app product and cannot be opened through branches.
  • No fees or charges are levied for issuing the card to the domestic worker.
  • The Debit Card is issued without the requirement of a minimum balance.
  • The authentication of the domestic worker is established with the help of the OTP triggered based on the mobile number provided. The QID number of the sponsor is linked to the domestic worker for better governance.
  • The original QID & passport of the domestic worker is scanned during the opening of the account, and using advanced technology, automated validation of the documents is established, which will help to validate and meet one of the KYC requirements for opening the Domestic Workers Account instantly.
  • This account category will not be entitled to a cheque book, Credit Card, additional accounts, deposit, or liability products of the bank via digital channels like Retail Internet Banking & Mobile Banking.
  • This account category will enjoy the benefits of digital platforms like Retail Internet Banking & Mobile Banking.
  • With the issued Debit Card, the domestic worker will be able to make payments at Point of Sale (P.O.S), withdraw from ATMs, make transfers, and pay expenses through online banking and mobile applications. Additionally, the card balance credited by transferring from the employer’s bank account.
  • Additional features of this account category include the usage of mPay (Money Wallet), Money Transfers through digital channels like Western Union, SWIFT, NAPS, or any other corridors, which may be added over time.
  • All support services for the Domestic Workers Account category are catered through the QIB Call Centre. The newly established Domestic Workers Account category is not serviced in branches.
  • As per the bank's policy, a daily transfer limit of QAR 10,000 (local & external bill payments) has been established.
  • Domestic workers will be issued a Debit Card, and the delivery of such cards is organized only via Qatar Post against the self-declared address mentioned during the journey of the Domestic Workers Account opening. Due to any reason, if the Debit Card is returned by the Qatar Post for non-delivery, the cards will be available in the service delivery centre situated at the C Ring Road for collection after authenticating the credentials of the domestic worker.
  • The sponsor should ensure the cancellation of the card and closure of the Domestic Workers Account immediately after the contract between him/herself and the domestic worker expires.
  • This is the primary responsibility of the sponsor, and the bank will not be held responsible. In case of any balance in the account, the same will be returned to the domestic worker in the form of a banker's cheque, which will be issued to the branches.
  • The Bank provides periodic awareness around the electronic banking services, fraud, and any other banking services from time to time.
  • The respective sponsor (QIB customer) will receive an SMS notifying the completion of the account opening formalities for the domestic worker. Additionally, directions are provided to contact the call centre if the sponsor does not recognize the domestic worker and seeks cancellation of the account with appropriate evidence. The responsibility of authenticating the domestic worker lies with the sponsor and the QIB Retail customer (sponsor). The sponsor should challenge the associated SMS if the sponsor does not recognize the Domestic worker intending to open the account with QIB.
  • The Domestic Workers Account will be activated automatically post completion of the compliance requirement.
  • Responsibility lies with the customer/sponsor informing the bank of any changes to the status of sponsorship or domestic worker quitting the job or any other reason as appropriate.

    Download the QIB Mobile App, tap ‘Open a New Account’ then ‘Get Started.’ Enter your QID, mobile number, and OTP.

    Select account type & verify employer

    Choose ‘Domestic Workers Account.’ Enter your employer's QID to confirm they are a QIB customer, then scan your QID and passport.

    Provide personal & employment details

    Review and confirm your QID and passport info. Take a selfie, enter your residency, home address, employment, and tax declaration details.

    Set up & activate
